let there be light!

Soft, ambient, beautiful light, that is. When a project calls for elegant chandeliers and wall sconces, be sure to follow through with the appropriate light bulb. Jessica McIntyre Interior's choice is a silicone dipped candelabra-based lamp. These little guys give off the perfect glow and compliment any charming fixture for a residential project (such as this hand-painted reproduction Italian Chandelier from Aidan Gray, $1035 through Jessica McIntyre Interiors).

retail therapy

I dropped by West Elm at Mockingbird Station yesterday to find this little treasure! It is a bowl made of domesticated buffalo horn from India (they assured me the buffalo was not killed for the purpose of harvesting the horn... I'll take their word for it) and it's perfect for, well, anything! The variation in color is beautiful and the lighter parts of the horn are translucent. Perfect for pistachios piled high on a coffee table, or fresh fruit in the kitchen.

round top regular

If anyone has heard "Round Top" and thought what the heck is that?, I was one of you. That is until I experienced the giant Antiques Show that infiltrates a small Texas town twice a year. Now, I consider myself a spring-time Round Top Regular.

A few days off work is well worth roaming the sea of tents and viewing goods from Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, and many other antique meccas. We hit Marburger Farm, The Big Red Barn, Blue Hills at Round Top, and many other small venues along Hwy 290, and there was A LOT to see.

One of our favorite finds of the trip were these beautifully rustic marble bowls. Perfect for keys at an entry, or a unique soap dish in the powder bath. Prices range from $60 to $75 each.
