nurseries galore!

We have been crazy busy designing baby nurseries for clients and now it is time for the MOST FUN PROJECT EVER.... my own baby nursery!  Thought I would share my very first purchase, as today my husband and I found out that we will be welcoming a baby boy this April.  Couldn't be MORE excited.  I have had my eyes on this Elizabeth Lucas Giraffe art for months and today treated Baby McIntyre to his first piece of nursery decor...

This vendor creates beautiful art, pillows, and textiles with a fresh look and soothing color palette.  Meet the Elizabeth Lucas Company.  Here are some examples of other pieces we love.

vendor highlight | artist andrea costa

While updating our library of vendors this weekend, JMI came across Lacefield Designs... and the talented Atlanta artist Andrea Costa.

Lacefield Designs is a home accessory line that focuses on high quality, artisanal products with a hand crafted feel.  A peek at their collection of pillows and textiles...

While exploring their website we were reminded of an incredible artist whose work caught our eye at both Round Top and High Point.  Andrea Costa creates hauntingly beautiful original oil paintings that I would LOVE to see in my own house, and of course in a client's abode as well.  Hopefully I can obtain a few for the shop, and maybe take one home with me!  Her collections of paintings below have just been added to THE VAULT (my personal home wish-list).  Perfectly serene for a bedroom or study....

big day @ big D market

Dallas Market is this week and what a great show!  We found a few new vendors, and have seen beautiful products from our go-to showrooms as well.  Currently I am loving the playful company Cardboard Safari. What a fun way to incorporate animals into a little boys bedroom or a children's play space!  They even have an ENORMOUS "Tex" cardboard longhorn that spans about 8 feet wide... and we are proud to have BIG TEX as the newest addition to JMI :)  Keep your eyes peeled for this funky product in our new shop (opening September)  J. McIntyre HOME.

zaza-tastic!

As a board member of the Dallas IESNA (what's that you say?  why, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America of course), and the events chairperson, I am annually looking for a great venue to host the Illumination Awards.

The Illumination Awards event this year will be held at the super cool ZaZa Art House and Social Gallery.  This gallery/event space is located in the heart of the vibrant and fashionable Uptown neighborhood and collaborates with Turner Carroll Gallery and Art Advisors to bring internationally acclaimed art exhibitions to the space.  Not only does it have great scenery, but events are catered by the award-winning Hotel ZaZa restaurant, Dragonfly.

The 2011 IA event is sure to be a great success thanks to this chic new venue!

rome rome rome!

Enjoying my reclaimed love for Architectural Digest this morning, and AD travels this month to ROME. Rome is one of my favorite cities and fondest memories (you can't beat a birthday wish at the Trevi Fountain).  Interesting article on newly restored sights and a flourishing art scene, both ancient and contemporary.  Makes me want to revisit this city soon... andiamo!
