before and after | vista butte entry

Vista Butte's entry previously welcomed guests with a stale mustard paint color... throughout the entire entry and great room!  Manchester Tan to the rescue, along with some great pieces of art and furniture.

The new entry is adorned with a faux-bois demilune table, rustic bovine oil painting, antique keys, and table lamp by Aidan Gray.  Large scale floor finials and new wall sconces flank the front doors.  Trim and doors are painted Benjamin Moore Bear Creek for a warm touch.

The foyer design is centered around the large scale landscape painting.  Aidan Gray wall sconces frame the art, and a rustic sideboard sits beneath for storage.  Antler candelabras, a cowhide rug and a custom guest book enhance the warm welcome.

before and after | vista butte kitchen

This week's posts will feature before and after shots of the recently completed Vista Butte vacation home.  This beautiful home in Crested Butte, Colorado began with an uncoordinated interior, and has come a LONG way.

Red walls...  no, POPPY walls... created an odd atmosphere in the kitchen.  It was randomly combined with a blue Viking range and a distracting mosaic backsplash that was made worse with a shaky installation.  We started with a fresh coat of neutral paint (Benjamin Moore's Manchester Tan, painted throughout the house) and set the tone for a modern mountain look.  We kept the range and used it to tie in a pop of color.  Updated mercury glass pendants glisten and bring out the new stainless backsplash at the stovetop.  Soapstone countertops, natural roman shades, burlap barstools, an oak hutch, and a fresh stain on the home's original hickory floors complete the look.

a week without wifi

JMI has been in the darling ski town of Crested Butte, Colorado all week installing the beautiful Vista Butte vacation home.  A week without wifi kept us from blogging, but that's okay because we were SO busy with the move!  The design is a complete success and we will be shooting amateur photographs on Monday, so be sure and check back for before/after shots of the home renovation and interior designs.

local landing | fort worth

Disclaimer:  I love Dallas, I really do.  But I am having an affair with Fort Worth.

Recent trips to Cowtown have reintroduced me to the charming city that Dallasites don't frequent enough.  Not only do they have incredible eateries and museums, they also have great shopping.  Camp Bowie and 7th Street are full of boutique clothing & home stores.  Two frequent stops on my list are Domain XCIV (for traditionalists) and dh collection (for the hip & trendy).  Mark Vaughan and Tad Watts bring you the best of both worlds, just blocks from one another.

techno deco

This is by far one of the coolest design tools that I have come across on the web.  Virtual interior design created by mydeco.com allows you to easily design a floor plan with doors, windows, flooring and paint selections.  Then you can move around a little camera and adjust the view to see the space!  Another feature is dropping in (real-life retail) furniture to adequately design your space plan.  It even goes a step further and links you to the site where you can purchase all of those beautiful interior goods.  I do wish it had a larger selection of goods, and perhaps categorized not only by function but also by brand.  A girl can dream, can't she?

Have fun & enjoy designing away!

inspired!

A new day, a new project!  Just starting work on a young, fresh apartment for a darling Dallas twenty-something.  Inspired by my client's favorite color combination of gold/green/white/yellow, interiors by Kelly Wearstler and the ornate elements of the Rococo decorative arts, we begin!  What a FUN project to start off 2011!
