JMI has been in the darling ski town of Crested Butte, Colorado all week installing the beautiful Vista Butte vacation home. A week without wifi kept us from blogging, but that's okay because we were SO busy with the move! The design is a complete success and we will be shooting amateur photographs on Monday, so be sure and check back for before/after shots of the home renovation and interior designs.

local landing | fort worth
Disclaimer: I love Dallas, I really do. But I am having an affair with Fort Worth.
Recent trips to Cowtown have reintroduced me to the charming city that Dallasites don't frequent enough. Not only do they have incredible eateries and museums, they also have great shopping. Camp Bowie and 7th Street are full of boutique clothing & home stores. Two frequent stops on my list are Domain XCIV (for traditionalists) and dh collection (for the hip & trendy). Mark Vaughan and Tad Watts bring you the best of both worlds, just blocks from one another.

techno deco
This is by far one of the coolest design tools that I have come across on the web. Virtual interior design created by mydeco.com allows you to easily design a floor plan with doors, windows, flooring and paint selections. Then you can move around a little camera and adjust the view to see the space! Another feature is dropping in (real-life retail) furniture to adequately design your space plan. It even goes a step further and links you to the site where you can purchase all of those beautiful interior goods. I do wish it had a larger selection of goods, and perhaps categorized not only by function but also by brand. A girl can dream, can't she?
Have fun & enjoy designing away!

inspired!
A new day, a new project! Just starting work on a young, fresh apartment for a darling Dallas twenty-something. Inspired by my client's favorite color combination of gold/green/white/yellow, interiors by Kelly Wearstler and the ornate elements of the Rococo decorative arts, we begin! What a FUN project to start off 2011!

retail treat | wisteria
Well, I am back from Dallas County jury duty and thankful that my civic responsibilities lasted only half of one day.... whew! The free afternoon allowed me to wrap up the Crested Butte vacation home and now we are 100% ready for the big installation. My last stop for the project was at Wisteria's new outlet location in Dallas.
Wisteria has not only abandoned it's former Luna Road location, but also the I-feel-like-I-just-stole-something bargains. They instead have gone to a blanket 10% discount system. Which really feels like nothing at all when you are purchasing higher-end home goods. Regardless, Wisteria has a unique vibe and offers eclectic goods that aren't found at most home retailers. That is why we return to the warehouse wonder (the Mockingbird location is much bigger and way more beautiful than the old Luna location), and are happy to do so!
Below are some of our long-time favorites from Wisteria, as well as a few newcomers.

winspear = winner
Last night I had the unforgettable experience of visiting The Winspear Opera House in the recently revved-up Dallas Arts District. What an AMAZING piece of architecture. The outer transparent layer of glass lets you see right through to the beautiful sweeping red shell of the performance hall. Designed by the award-winning firm of Foster + Partners (big name architect Norman Foster), the performance hall seats 2,200 people and every seat in the house is a great one!
Add this to your list of 2011 Dallas-To-Do's, as it is a MUST for all locals and visitors to the Big D.
